Scale-Out Architecture

In a traditional storage system, capacity is added behind a single controller head. This means that as more storage is added, the load on the controller increases, until the controller no longer has enough performance and a forklift upgrade is required.

Exagrid is based on a Scale-Out “grid” architecture, where capacity is added via additional nodes with their own controllers and resources. This means that performance scales in line with capacity, avoiding the performance bottlenecks and expensive forklift upgrades that come with traditional scale-up alternatives.

Ransomware Protected

Exagrid systems are designed to be very secure, with a single user interface for all systems, role-based admin controls, two factor authentication, encryption at rest (via optional SEC drives), encryption during replication, checksums to ensure data integrity and a suite of features designed to provide additional protection from threats that include ransomware.

Exagrid’s long term retention tier is non-network-facing and data objects are immutable, preventing data deletion or corruption.

Future storage costs are often hard to predict, because traditional vendors do not usually guarantee the same up-front discount for future purchases.
